PSA from the Dentist’s Daughter
As parents we can only do so much. There is a point that we need to loosen the reins and believe that we have done a good job. But to have consistency in character and values and heritage our teenagers need other adults and in fact other older teens to learn from. Encourage your children to look for advice from people whom they admire and respect. We become like the people we spend time with so spend time with positive, caring, and ambitious people. Children love to learn but they get tired of being taught by their parents. Help your children find other positive role models so their journey to become worthwhile men can continue. So when they are far away without you there to hold their hand, you can feel confident they will use the life skills you have taught them. And for a safety blanket, to surround themselves with people who can support them. And in the words from Camp Highlands, feel confident that they are living their life with meaning, putting God first, others second and themselves third.
