PSA from the dentist’s daughter
In honor of my dad, lets change the direction with some talk about my Grandma, wife of a dentist, daughter of a dentist, mom of a dentist and grandma of me – the dentist’s daughter. She had this great uncanny sense of relating to people. Long after we had lost real contact due to Alzheimers I found out she had willed a Hummel to me. “Boy with tooth ache”. I hadn’t started hygiene school before she was lost to me but yet there it was, the dental Hummel passed on to me. She was such a caretaker and I am so happy to follow in her steps. She went and got her nursing degree as a grandma and then took care of all of her family including me until she was unable. We lived together some summers, we wrote letters to each other, shared recipes and yes, drank Manhattans together.
Be excited and try to share a little happiness with everyone and a positive attitude to all of us women and their fabulous role models. Be compassionate, be full of empathy. Be forgiving. Be loving. And of course listen to my grandma. “I wasn’t born in the mash to be fooled by trash” and “Never cry over anything that can be fixed with money” or as my beautiful husband says “I can fix anything but plastic and bones”. Be careful out there.
