A life lived full!!
Reflecting back on the life of my grandmother Myra, I would say she lived a full life. Filled with fun and family and laughter. Also with sadness and hard times, but I know she was such a good person and a caretaker and loved the journey. When she was disabled with Alzheimer’s she was fortunate enough to have 4 children who loved her and provided top notch care for her in her home. This does not come cheap.
You may have seen my live videos about long term care insurance and I assure you that this is the way to go. If you are in your 40’s or 50’s you still have a chance to qualify. The Alzheimer’s Association says 16.1 million are currently caregivers to their loved ones. And that’s assuming that you have loved ones who want to take care of you and who have the financial ability to.
Here is a great example. Many of you remember Tim Conway. So appropriate as one of his best roles was “The Dentist”.
Tim Conway’s dementia has forced, according to media reports, his daughter to legally take over his needs. According to legal filings, Conway’s wife decided to take him out of a very good nursing facility impacting the quality of his care. She wants to place him in one that won’t give him access to “registered nurses at all times and his 24-hour caregiver and speech therapist (to help with swallowing).I am guessing this is due to financial constraints.
When a family has a Long-Term Care policy these decisions are easier as the policy will pay for quality care. This safeguards your personal assets while reducing the hardships on loved ones.
Plan for your future, I know it can be hard, but I have seen so many people go through even worse hardships in their 70’s and 80’s. Trust me that investing in your future will make you a better person and happier in the twilight of your life. That counts too! After all the shit you go through in your life and then to find out its only going to get worse is a bad plan. Raise the rest of your life to meet you at the end.
