When my father retired in May of 2016 it was a hard day, but I was so excited for him. I worked at his office all through high school and when I finished dental hygiene school I went to work in the same office again for 12 years as a dental hygienist. A lot of things have changed after dad retired and as of November 9th I will be pursuing new and exciting things.
I just want to thank all of my patients who have come in and been so happy to be part of my life. To listen to my silly stories about my kids, my dog and my husband. Stories just like my dad told. I loved seeing patients that my dad and even my grandfather had seen. Generations of families listening to generations of stories. Four generations of dentists in the Brundage family.
I will be still passionate about dental hygiene and am working on figuring out better access to care for seniors and others with difficult access. Illinois makes it very difficult to care for people given its current laws. There are many states that allow hygienists to maintain and educate patients without a dentist in the office. I am constantly researching new products and information to help patients with their teeth and the oral-body relationship.
I have also been working as a consultant for 1 1/2 years for a skin care company which has made me so happy. I have been a career woman for over 30 year and this has been the first company that has been supportive, collaborative and has the drive to see me succeed. It has ignited my internal power and has given me a way to be home with my family more.
