Yes, I still make my kid’s lunches

PSA from A DENTIST’S daughter

Yes, I make lunch for my kids, still

As I stand here tonight at the counter making a ham sandwich for Jake, with a little Crazy Jane salt and mayo. The fruit goes in the bottom of the bag but wrapped with a paper towel so the moisture won’t come through the bag and rip it.. Also, to be used as a napkin. We have tried all the eco friendly options over the years and this is our newest plan. I put a pudding in there with a spoon (if I remember the spoon). Luke rotates between Nutella and PB and Jelly and PB.

My husband thinks I am ridiculous. They should make their own lunches. Clayton has opted out. I am pretty sure he doesn’t eat lunch.

It’s just that they are growing up so quick. And I make the best lunches. Don’t think I don’t get the talk from Clayton. “Why don’t you have anything good to eat in this house”. I mention that all dinners are homemade, and I just did buy Captain Crunch.

I eat all the leftovers. People at work say, “Oh what is that you are eating?” I usually say,”left over shit”. I come from a family that finds it hard to waste anything.

I love food and cooking. I love standing in my kitchen prepping for the week and deciding the menu. I love when my kids say “yum”. Lucky for me Wes will eat almost anything.

My mom used to make my lunches. If I forgot my lunch she would march into the lunch room to deliver it. Eek. But I do appreciate it today. For St. Patrick’s day she would cut bread into Shamrocks and fill them with green cream cheese. I had a great childhood.

But yes, I am such a mom. But a cool one, Just ask me.
